We woke up this morning to the surprising news that we are heading to Hissar a day early. Apparently some flights have been delayed or cancelled and that threw the schedule of buses from Sofia to Hissar off…so we’re going ahead!!

Things are still going great in Bulgaria.
On Tuesday we went to the women’s market in the center of the city…how cool. There was blocks and blocks of little booths set up (think flea market) with one row being mostly food and the other being mostly clothes, but misc items in there as well.

Today has been a good day.
We got to sleep in a bit, as our bus didn’t leave until 10:00 am. That was nice, but would have been even better if Melilla had stayed asleep (but on the flipside, it’s good she’s waking up as her jetlag is getting better and she’s getting on Bulgaria time).

On Sunday we got to attend a Roma church in the village of Rakitova! How exciting!
We sang songs in Bulgarian and Romani. (OK, so they sang in Bulgarian and Romani and we either hummed along or tried to sing along in Bulgarian when it was written down!)

Saturday was spent exploring the town of Velingrad on foot. It was very fun and very tiring!
We found a small park, which made Melilla very happy.
We also got to have our first truly Bulgarian meal!!! We stopped at a little cafe and I had this AWESOME meat called Kiofte – sort of a less spicy [...]
